Motorists who own Ford vehicles are more loyal to their brand compared to customers with vehicles from other car manufacturers, it has been suggested.
Around 40 per cent of Ford car owners would replace their car with another car of the same brand if they had an accident on the roads and their vehicle was written off, research by insurance specialist Admiral has revealed.
Based on a study of the 16,000 claims Admiral has received when motorists have suffered write-offs on their cars, Ford owners were most likely to stick to the same model while Volkswagen came second in the loyalty stakes on 39.9 per cent.
Surprisingly Audi cars failed to make the top ten with 26.5 per cent of drivers opting to replace their write-off with the same manufacturer for their next vehicle, which was surprising given that the brand is associated with quality and driver experience, suggested Sue Longthorn, managing director at Admiral.
"It looks like some manufacturers need to start pulling out the stops to keep their customers
Ford and Volkswagen are making an excellent impression on their owners as they are the most loyal when it comes to replacing their cars," she stated.
The study comes as research from AA Personal Loans this month found that planned spending on cars has dropped to its lowest point for two years and by an average of £976 in the last six months.
