Admiral: Today the most dangerous date for drivers - 18/01/2008

Drivers should think twice about using their car today - for, according to car insurance firm Admiral, it is the most dangerous date on which to be on the road.
The car insurance provider reached this surprising conclusion after studying the almost two million accident reports it has filed over the past decade and a half.
It found that January 18th had more accidents than on any other date - and that Friday had the highest number of any day.
The two combining, therefore, could mean extra danger for drivers.
Admiral managing director, Sue Longthorn, said: "It's not surprising to see that the worst day of the week for accidents is a Friday as people are tired after a long week at work and can easily get caught up thinking about their weekend plans instead of the road ahead."
She added: "In terms of the 18th January being dangerous, it's difficult to say for certain why this is, but it could be that people have a lot on their mind as they haven't been paid for a while, the bills are coming in, it's dark, the weather's often foul and the fun of the festive period is a long and distant memory."
