No-claims car insurance bonuses are under threat in Peterborough, it has been reported.
Road safety in the area is being severely compromised by traffic diversions and road works, a local newspaper claimed, with many local drivers found to be putting others at risk.
No-entry signs are being ignored at the half-mile stretch of roadworks on Oundle Road - one of the town's busiest thoroughfares - which has been cut to one lane.
The danger comes as the impatient drivers ignore the stop signs and speed down the single lane to avoid green-lighted traffic coming the other way.
Several "near-misses" have occurred in recent days, the newspaper says, with some drivers even forced to take evasive action.
Peterborough Today sent photographers along to the works to monitor the situation.
Chief photographer Rowland Hobson said: "Some of these drivers were obviously just too impatient to take the diversions, although it would only have taken them three or four minutes longer to get into town. They seem to think the 'no entry' signs don't apply to them. "It's absolutely crazy. I saw a motorcyclist nearly get hit as he was legitimately coming along from the city centre."
