Almost nine-in-ten Britons are unaware of tomorrow's International Car Free Day, research from car insurance provider ibuyeco shows.
Further statistics released by the car insurance firm this week hint at a continuing love affair with the car in the UK.
Over one-third of those polled by ibuyeco believe that usage of cars will rise in the future - and 72 per cent, when informed about the car free day, said that they had no intention of taking part.
The climax of European Mobility Week, International Car Free Day was created by the EU in 1998 to highlight environmental and sustainable issues.
Celebrated across the continent, it has proved an opportunity for local authorities to organise their own awareness-raising events.
This years' theme for the UK is Streets for People, focussing on pedestrianisation of towns, the government says.
