Car enthusiasts beware - driving through the nation's capital is becoming increasingly risky - and not just because of car accidents but because of burglars.
Four London districts reported the highest percentage of car crime in the UK for the past 18 months, while the areas with the fewest car thefts were towns in Scotland and the south of England, stated a report by insurance specialist Admiral.
Hackney had the highest incidence of crimes, with almost one fifth of all car insurance claims for crime and was followed by Clapham and Leyton.
While car crimes were decreasing in total, Sue Longthorn, managing director of Admiral said, "the sad fact is that people living in big cities are more likely to be victims of car crime".
Ms Longthorn explained that car insurance claims for crime fell by five per cent and have fallen by 34 per cent over the last five years "due to improvements in security within the motoring industry".
Admiral recommended that motorists should never leave anything on display in cars that can entice a burglar to break in and to always try to park vehicles in attended secure car parks.
