Car insurance firm esure has confirmed that November is set to be the highest claims month for car insurance of 2007.
Earlier sunsets, foggy weather and the beginnings of ground frost were all given as reasons by the car insurance firm for the increased number of car insurance claims.
With this in mind, esure has issued 'top tips' for car insurance customers to follow in the case of a collision - advice which might come in handy, given that such incidents increased by 130,000 from October-November 2006.
Head of risk and underwriting at esure Mike Pickard commented: "As more wintry weather affects driving conditions and daylight hours shrink this month, the likelihood of being involved in a car accident is at its peak.
"Being prepared for the unexpected is crucial. Knowing what to do and what not to in the event of an accident will help making an insurance claim as hassle-free as possible."
Checking to see if the other driver is OK, exchanging car insurance details, taking photos of the accident scene and not admitting liability were all recommended by the car insurance provider.
Perhaps most importantly, drivers were advised to call their car insurance firm with news of the incident as soon as possible.
