It seems with the New Year a new hobby will take to the British streets, cycling. With the recession continuing to take effect on us Brits we are all looking for ways to save a few pounds. A spokesperson for the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) said” People are already taking up cycling to get fit and beat congestion, but the economic situation looks likely to inspire more to make the switch.”
London is just one of the cities in the UK to see an increase in cycling levels, with the number of cyclists increasing by over a whopping 90 per cent in just two short years. With us all feeling the pinch it appears this figure will continue to steadily rise.
The ETA encourages bikers to take out bike insurance, this seems to be recommended across the board with an industry insider commenting that whilst were all feeling the bite financially, taking out insurance will prove to be a wise investment. With many people desperate to save money that new eye catching bike will look even more appealing to some. Without insurance not only will you have to pay travel costs but also to replace your bike leaving you considerably out of pocket.
