Bike Insurance - Man fined £100 for pushing quad bike - 03/11/2008

A man who had been disqualified from driving was recently spotted by a police officer pushing a quad bike on the pavement and taken to court for a breach of his driving ban.

Reports said the man, Karl Andrew Preistley, claimed not to know he was breaking the law when he pushed his daughter’s broken down quad bike down a Lincoln road.

But in law he actually violated his driving ban since he was responsible for the movement of the bike.

The 27-year-old man was charged to court and he pleaded guilty to driving without bike insurance while disqualified.

Preistley was fined £100 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15.

The second-hand bike, according to reports, had been bought by him for his daughter but he had to push it because the engine refused to start.

He was seen by a PCSO while taking it to fix it.

The officer was said to have reported seeing him on the bike with engine running.
