A new motorcycle scheme has been launched by the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) to work together with the motorcycle training sector in as a means to improve road safety.
The launch was made on the European Road Safety Day introduced as the Motor Cycle Industry Trainers’ Association (MCITA).
The new MCI membership, MCITA aims to provide rider trainers and companies access to the industries resources with a stronger voice with legislators and the government. The scheme also offers members with MCI’s political and business weight as well as other commercial benefits which may help reduce costs.
David Taylor, chief executive of the MCI said: “This is a natural extension of what the MCI already does. Improving road safety is vital in reducing casualty figures, and we believe that the closer we can work with trainers, the more impact we will have. Safety is the number one priority for us and government, and by working together we can improve and secure the future of a healthy motorcycle market…We have also put together a comprehensive benefits package that will help trainers to save money and market themselves more effectively.”
The scheme aims to encourage those looking to start motorcycling as the current economic crisis pushes more people toward the Powered two Wheeler (PTW) as a means to save money.
The UK trade association, MCIA represents manufacturers and importers of mopeds, motorcycles and scooters, and the suppliers of associated goods and services.
