Bike Insurance - Number of bikers could rise through training - 03/10/2008

Experts concerned with increasing the number of people taking to biking have suggested the use of training programmes to get motorists to switch cycling.

Reports said a recent scheme held in Lambeth and was hailed a success, as participants have continued to use their bikes.

A survey of participants showed that one-in-five are now cycling up to five times a week, while 61 per cent of people admitted they now cycle more often.

And 98 per cent of those who took part in the training programme said they were pleased with it, just as half of the adults said they were now more confident to ride a bike around.

Meanwhile, as more people switch to biking and the rate of crime, including theft, on bikes increases, bikers are being encouraged to ensure that they take out bike insurance to save them the trouble of replacing their bikes or damaged parts out of their own pockets.
