Police are working to crack down on the number of dangerous drivers on the roads, by watching them from the sky, in the aim of lowering fatal crashes on the road and the price of bike insurance premiums.
A local website in the Dunmow area, reported that the Police will use helicopters to detect the speed and then track the speeding motorists. The Essex police will use the flying vehicles, which have radars fitted. Along with the speed, the registration plate will also be identified immediately and can be used to identify the motorist.
Councillor Norman Hume, chairman of the Essex casualty reduction board, told the website: "We are seeing accidents in Essex dramatically reduced, as a result of our intervention and education campaign but we need to make more of an impact on motorcycle accidents.
He added: “Motorcyclists should be particularly incentivised by the scheme as they look to reduce road crashes and the number of motor insurance claims made.”
