A biker is fighting for his life after riding his bike down the stairs of a railway and crashing onto a live rail track, reports said.
The man who is in his 40s is believed to have landed on his head on the 750 volt live rail track and sustained life threatening injuries following the accident at St Leonards Warrior Square in Hastings, East Sussex earlier in the week.
He was said to have been immediately rushed to the Conquest Hospital in St Leonards for treatment.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police confirmed the incident, adding that they were still trying to identify the victim and contact his next of kin.
“It looks like this was an accident, but highlights the dangers of riding bikes at the station. It is a dangerous area, the railways are not a playground,” she advised.
In another development, the police in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour have continued to seize and dispose of mini motors and off-road bikes driven irresponsibly.
Sgt Jo Butler of Derbyshire explained that most of the bikes were driven without bike insurance and protection to the rider, which could be a tragedy waiting to happen.
