Those law-abiding bikers who have full valid motorcycle insurance and who regularly pay their road tax may have an apology, coming their way very soon by Edward Leigh, who happens to be the chairman of the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCIA) scrutinised a (PAC) report published in the month of January, which made a controversial claim that up to 38% of riders were not paying any road tax. It was later found out after a period of three weeks that the figures were actually incorrect, with a further new report setting the evasion of road tax at less than 10%, so MR Leigh apologised for the mistake.
Craig Carey-clinch: representing the MCIA had this to say “We are delighted that Edward Leigh and the PAC have now set the record straight and we thank them for their continued scrutiny of the issue and the work they have done.” The organisation does however believe that there is a possibility that even the new figure may not be accurate.
