Bike Insurance - Don’t let cycling damage your health, obtain bike insurance - 16/06/2008

The benefits of cycling have long been known from cutting costs, beating the traffic and of course fitness. The hazards however can be costly and sometimes fatal so insurance is also important, and with more bikes costing hundreds of pounds, cyclists need to make sure they are adequately covered in case of accidents and theft.

Insuresupermarket.com, alongside many other price comparison sites aims to make their customers aware that personal liability insurance is crucial. Although it is not a legal requirement to have insurance when you cycle as it is for drivers, it is just as important.

Like any other insurance, policies do vary, between third party liability and theft for example, or personal liability cover that can go up to £2 million if an accident occurs. Some types of home insurance do not cover you, in which case a specialist cycle insurance policy would be beneficial.

There are however an increasing number of cycling clubs opening up, such as the London Cycling Campaign, that provide cover as part of their membership.
